Have You Got The Guts To Master a Perfect Swing?

Anybody can take a swing at the golf ball. But you must master an whole array of skills if you want to make your golf swing effective. Further, if you want to give your ball the loft, accuracy and distance it needs in order to reach the green, you need to employ all the concentration and grace that you can muster.

Grace? Is This a Sport or a Dance?

Once you’ve started the swing with the club head descending toward the golf ball, it should do so with as little force and as much grace as possible. Newcomers to the sport of golf, unless they are keenly observant, will not notice the emphasis on grace and focused effort during the downswing. Instead they will take a cut at the ball with all their might. This approach leads to a golf swing that is as difficult to watch as it is ineffective. The result is a swing that is awkward, is very inefficient in transferring energy to the ball, and shows poor balance between power and precision. Grace comes in balancing skill, speed and force, not in bringing your full muscle power to bear on the tiny little ball.

Finding The Right Balance

Balance is important for all sports but it is absolutely important in golf. In order to improve, golfers must have the correct balance between strength and control, especially during critical, high-stress game play where it is especially crucial during the swing. Bringing accuracy and power into balance is necessary to be successful.

A balanced physical posture is also required. A player whose posture is not balanced will shift their weight from one foot to another during the swing, making it very difficult to control how the club head hits the ball. This problem usually results in hitting the ball at an angle that is slightly altered from the intended angle, destroying the shot.

Whenever you go to the country club or driving range, observe some of the other players who, after taking their shot, tend fall sideways after their swing. Their problem is a lack of balance control. Ridding yourself of this habit and regaining a balanced swing without weight shifting is accomplished by rotation of your body around an axis. What this means is that your golf swing should not be lateral. It should instead be more rotational. If you can keep this in mind, it will help boost your body control and steady your overall balance so that when you take your shot you will have a higher level of accuracy and power control.

You First Step To a Perfect Swing

A strong and graceful golf swing is attainable even by novice golfers with a little practice and attaining control over a few variables of the game. This includes keeping a steady tempo, body control, grace and most importantly retaining your balance. If you are just starting the game, don’t try and fix things all at once.

It is physically and mentally impossible to fix all your problems at once when it comes to anything. Golf is no different in this regard.

Trying to overcome all your golf swing issues at once will only lead to much frustration and little progress. Pick one thing to improve, work on it until you have mastered it, then pick the next issue to work on. Repeat those steps until your golf swing is as graceful and strong as the pros.

Patience is the key. Coupling this with focus on individual issues, you will begin to observe measurable improvements over time.
